Design and Comfort

The first thing you'll notice about the Jeep Cherokee is its authentic Jeep design, which offers a modern twist. For instance, the sleek daytime running lights offer a nice frame for the signature Jeep 7-slot grille. Overhead, this SUV stays true to its open-air predecessors with an available dual-pane sunroof.

Off-road capability is underscored by sizeable wheel wells and an available 8.7-inch ground clearance. Meanwhile, a capless fuel tank adds to the list of modern conveniences.

Inside, contoured seats were designed to fit the shape of your body. The front seats are available both heated and ventilated, further increasing your comfort no matter what season it is. Sharing the Jeep Cherokee with another driver? An available memory system saves your seat position, so you can easily switch back and forth.

Even the rear seats can slide front and back, allowing you to change up the balance between passenger and cargo space. Change it up even more with a height-adjustable cargo floor. With this floor completely lowered, you'll have 27.6 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats. Fold those seats down to increase the cargo area to 49.7 cubic feet.

Tech and Connectivity

Each Jeep Cherokee provides you with Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ compatibility. These features allow you to use the vehicle's Uconnect® interface for phone calls, navigation, and more, so you can stay connected without losing focus on the road. Upgrading your Uconnect® system offers a larger display, SiriusXM® Satellite Radio, and integrated navigation.

You can even turn your SUV into a 4G Wi-Fi Hotspot, so you can upload videos of your latest adventure to social media. This feature allows you to connect up to eight devices within 50 feet of the vehicle, meaning you can even take advantage of it from your tent while you're out camping.

On the road, a 7-inch color display is available for the instrument cluster. Customize it to show the information that's most important to you, such as the Selec-Terrain® status or audio information.

This is also where you'll find guidance from the available ParkSense® Parallel/Perpendicular Park Assist System. This system uses ultrasonic sensors to detect open parking spaces. Then, it controls your vehicle's steering to help guide you into the spot you choose. As a nice added design touch, the display will show the open spot flanked by two 1941 Jeep Willy vehicles.

Performance and Handling

Enough about these added comforts: What you really want to know about the Jeep Cherokee is how it drives. Thanks to an independent suspension, 9-speed automatic transmission, and your choice of available 4x4 systems, this SUV handles pretty well. Meanwhile, Engine Stop/Start helps it achieve a higher MPG rating.

There are three engines to choose from in the 2019 Cherokee. The proven 2.4L Tigershark® MultiAir® 2 comes standard, offering 180 horsepower and 171 lb-ft of torque. Upgrade to the 271-horsepower 3.2L Pentastar® V6, and you'll be able to tow up to 4,500 pounds.

Meanwhile, the available 2.0L Turbo engine offers an impressive balance of performance and efficiency. It generates 270 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. At the same time, it offers an EPA-estimated 23 MPG city/31 MPG highway.
